Help:How To Edit an Existing Entry 如何编辑条目
From ArtSpeak China (ASC) Wiki
If you are ready to add information to an existing entry, please find instructions to do so below. If you need to create a new entry, simply use the search box to the left to search for the title you would like to give the new entry. The title should be the <a href="http://thebeginnerslens.com">iphone photography</a> English/pinyin followed by the Chinese characters, for example "Ai Weiwei 艾未未". If you do not know one or the other, don't worry. Someone will add it later.
If the page does not already exist, the results will say: "There is no page entitled XXXX. You can create this page." Click on "create this page" and you're off to the races.
If you want to write the English version of the entry, put your cursor in the edit box and begin writing in English, using below guide for reference. If you want to write the Chinese version of the entry, click on the red 中文 in the upper left, below the entry title. This will open a new page entitled "Ai Weiwei 艾未未/zh". Put your cursor in the edit box and begin writing in Chinese, using below guide for reference.
Once youʼve finished your edits, youʼll need to save them. Remember, ONCE YOU HIT SAVE, YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO GET BACK INTO YOUR EDITS UNTIL THEY HAVE BEEN REVIEWED AND PUBLISHED (ABOUT 24 HOURS). Please use the “Show Preview” button at the bottom of the page to see a preview of the entry with your edits. If you want to make further changes, scroll down to the editing box. If you are happy with the preview and donʼt need to make any more changes, scroll down past the editing box and hit "Save Page."
Thank you for all that you bring to the conversation.

2. Click the Edit tab at the very top of the page.
a. To add information to an existing section (for example, “Education & Development”): Simply write it in.
b. To create a new section or subsection: Place your cursor where you would like your new section to begin (which should be one line below the preceding section). Type the name of your section, highlight it, and click on the dropdown menu beside "Normal" in the toolbar. Choose Heading 2 for a main section, Heading 3 for a sub-section, Heading 4 for an even lesser sub-section, and so forth. Then hit enter and proceed with writing in the space below your new section heading. The dropdown menu should again read “normal.”

Getting Fancy
Creating Links
Highlight the section of text you intend to be included in the link. Click on Insert/Edit Link -- the image of the chain link and globe in the toolbar (middle left below).
<img src="/mediawiki/images/7/75/2.JPG" _fck_mw_filename="2.JPG" alt="" />
This will bring up a small input box.
<img src="/mediawiki/images/6/6b/3.JPG" _fck_mw_filename="3.JPG" alt="" />
If you wish to link to another entry on the wiki, type in the name of that entry (which usually contains the same, or similar, wording as the term you have just highlighted). The box will guess after you have written a few letters. Click on the appropriate link option, and press Save. (Note: Links will not be active until you are out of Edit mode).
<img src="/mediawiki/images/a/a7/4.JPG" _fck_mw_filename="4.JPG" alt="" />
If you wish to link to a site outside the wiki, simply type in the url or web address of the site (eg. <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ai_Weiwei">http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ai_Weiwei</a>), and click OK.
Breaking Links
If you wish to break a link that you have already made, that was made by a previous editor, or that has been smuggled into the entry via pasting from somewhere else: highlight it, and click on Remove Link -- the broken chain link and globe (far left below).
<img src="/mediawiki/images/4/45/5.JPG" _fck_mw_filename="5.JPG" alt="" />
Footnoting
Place your cursor at the end of the borrowed sentence or paragraph. EssaysExperts.Com is the company which first and main priority was, is and will be customers satisfaction with the <a href="http://www.essaysexperts.com">essays online</a>. If you still have no idea where to buy your writing tasks, this company is the best option for you. Click on Insert/Edit Reference -- the “R” picture in the toolbar (far right below).
<img src="/mediawiki/images/8/80/6.JPG" _fck_mw_filename="6.JPG" alt="" />
This will bring up a small input box.
<img src="/mediawiki/images/7/7d/7.JPG" _fck_mw_filename="7.JPG" alt="" />
Type in the name or address of the website, journal, book, or other source you would like to cite. If you intend to use this source more than once, please give it a nickname in the small box at the bottom. You may then use the source's nickname as a shortcut throughout the rest of your writing. (Note: Footnote nicknames do not carry through to other entries).
Please see ASC's <a href="Wiki Policies">citation policy</a> for directions as to what kinds of information you should be sure to footnote.
Once you hit OK, an “R” will appear in the place you put the reference. In the final version of the entry, this will show up as a numbered footnote, referring to the information you just entered, which will be listed at the bottom of the page, in the place
you see the <img src="/mediawiki/images/9/96/8.JPG" _fck_mw_filename="8.JPG" alt="" /> image. If you do not see this image at the very bottom of the entry, you can add it by putting the cursor where you want it and clicking on the “<R> References” image (Far right below).

Size/Color/Spacing/Font Formatting
Though many may opt for writing text straight onto the entry page, others may prefer to copy from another site and paste into the wiki.
Sometimes this can lead to formatting issues if the paste is not performed in a certain way. Here's how to avoid trouble: Once you have copied the intended text, click on Paste From Word in the entry toolbar or click on the clipboard and “W” image (middle right, below).
<img src="/mediawiki/images/5/57/10.JPG" _fck_mw_filename="10.JPG" alt="" />
Paste your text into the space provided, and be sure that both the boxes featured below are checked before hitting save.
<img src="/mediawiki/images/d/dc/11.JPG" _fck_mw_filename="11.JPG" alt="" />
If any problem with size, color, spacing, or font persists, highlight the problematic text, and click Remove Format -- the eraser image in the toolbar (middle, below). That should do the trick.

Adding Images
Open a new tab or new window, keeping your edits safe on their own tab. Go to any ArtSpeak China page and click on Upload File in the left-hand toolbar.
<img src="/mediawiki/images/f/f1/13.JPG" _fck_mw_filename="13.JPG" alt="" />
Click Browse, and choose the image you wish to upload. (Note: Before uploading an image, be sure to name it appropriately so that you will be able to find it easily later on—for example, Ai_Weiwei_Bird's_Nest). In the Summary box, cite the image's source.
Then click Save.
Return to your entry in its original tab and place your cursor exactly where you would like the image to go. Click Insert/Edit Image – the image of miniature mountains and rising sun (far right below).
<img src="/mediawiki/images/0/0c/14.JPG" _fck_mw_filename="14.JPG" alt="" />
Type in the image's file name, and, after a few letters, the box will guess. Click on the appropriate choice, and wait for a preview of the image to appear in the right-hand space. Under Caption, type in the appropriate caption (for artworks, the standard form is Artist, Title, Medium, Dimensions, Date). Under Special Type choose Thumbnail or any other size you choose, and use Align to orient the image to the left, center, or right of the page. Leave the height and width blank unless you fancy customizing the dimensions.
